This beautiful, wallet size - 2 1/2" x 4 1/2", laminated Saint Jerome holy card, bordered in gold, depicts the 4th century saint as the Scripture scholar that he was, translating most of the Old Testament from the Hebrew. Saint Jerome is particularly important for having made a translation of the Bible which came to be called the Vulgate. Saint Augustine said of him, “What Jerome is ignorant of, no mortal has ever known.” He spent the last years of his life in a cave in Bethlehem, thought to be the birthplace of Our Lord.
